How to Market a Law Firm Without Buying Another Brochure

Jonathan Mahler · 3 min read

How to market a law firm is not a branding exercise. It is a sequence. Lawyers who ask how to get clients usually already have a site, a Google Business Profile, and an ad account. The leak is almost always earlier: intake that cannot catch what marketing already paid for.

Start with the handoff, not the channel

If a form fill sits in email overnight, more traffic makes the problem louder. Wire source, call tracking, and a same-day intake path before you raise spend. LawVert connects that handoff to intake.link when the firm is ready — sign, pay, matter open — so marketing and intake stop arguing about whose lead it was.

A marketing meeting that cannot answer “what happened to last Tuesday’s form fills” is not ready for a new channel.

Then make the site worth the click

Attorney marketing that lands on a five-page brochure wastes the click. Website design has to carry practice-area pages, local pages, and a path a mobile caller can finish. Fix that before you buy more lawyer advertising.

Organic search is how most firms actually compound

How lawyers get clients over years is still search plus referrals. Law firm SEO and local SEO are the compounding pieces. Paid media fills gaps and tests markets. Do not invert that unless you have a reason — a new office, a new practice, a month you can afford to rent attention.

The operator example we publish is Conduit Law: 7.61K Google clicks in twelve months, monthly clicks 9.2× from December 2025 (224) to July 2026 (2,060), 162 organic-search leads and 66 SEO-attributed signed cases in the trailing year. That is what a site plus search can do when the floor holds. Numbers live on the case study. They are not a promise for your market.

Paid media last, on purpose

Google Ads, Facebook, and PI commercials only pay if the landing page and intake already work. Personal injury lawyer advertising is a large query cluster — treat it as its own spoke, not a line item inside “boost the homepage.” Compare platforms in Facebook ads vs Google Ads after the organic path is honest.

A one-page order of operations

  1. Map where leads die today (speed, source, no-show).
  2. Fix the site templates you will actually rank and advertise.
  3. Publish or refresh the URLs that match how clients search.
  4. Align Google Business Profile and NAP to those URLs.
  5. Turn on paid only where you can name the signed-case cost.

That is how to market a law firm as an operator. The commercial hub is law firm marketing. The quarterly document is a marketing plan. Book a strategy call if you want a baseline on which step you are actually on.
